Glx 852c help

Wondering what this rod would be good for? I know it’s rated pretty light so figured it should be wicked sensitive! Considering it for a finesse jigs with a trailer and senkos and such. If you have one what reel do you have on it, debating on a curado 70, chronarch mgl or aldebaran (like the weight but doesn’t feel nearly as smooth as the other two for twice the price)

I’m tagging in as I’m curious as well! I just purchased the 852c last weekend as a senko rod but curious what others enjoy using this rod for

Shakeyhead. I have a customized Daiwa SOL with a SV spool on mine.

I use the Metanium MGL with the NRX 852c for shakeyhead, 1/4oz tube jigs and lighter, I also have the Metanium 13 with a GLX 842c (Metanium 13 looks like its made for the GLX) I use it for spybaits and jerbaits.

both are super sensative..

Up here in Canada I use my GLX 852C with a Zillion SV TW P (5.5:1 ratio) exclusively for spybaits (Duo 90). When I head to Texas in the winter, I use it for shakeyheads with a Tat SV HS (7.3:1 ratio)

Right on! How do you compare the metanium mgl vs the metanium 13? I’m looking to outfit 2 rods with new reels. Are the metanium really worth the money over the chronarch mgl? I have 3 of them now and love the chronarch

Thanks gentleman! Great Info! Anyone throw a finesse jig, 1/8-3/16oz jigs or flukes?

There a reason you don’t use it for Shakeyhead in Canada as well?

Probably because I don't really catch anything up here with a shakeyhead..... :laugh1: I have an 822C DSR that I use for shakeyheads up here but I don't bring it with me when I go south due to space limitations.

I've thrown flukes with this rod as well and while I prefer my NRX 803C for flukes because I like a shorter rod for skipping and generally fish flukes around cover but if I just wanted to bomb flukes around over open water the GLX 852C would certainly do a nice job.

Thats a hard one on the MGL vs 13, my 13 is super-tuned with HH bearings and a yumeya shallow spool which makes it a
joy to fish with, but the Metanium MGL is also amazng, I like them both and both cast better then any other reel
I have used in the past.
Both my Metaniums have the new Curado K brass gears which also make them super smooth.

I like the Metanium platform over the Chronarch myself.
