Re: Cranking rod
most of my Crankbait rods are basically Dobyn's
805CB RM
764CB RM
705CB
634CB
635CB
and a Fenwick Elite tech(the old 2 colour black and yellow) and a
Gloomis 903C Deepflex
I have too many crankbait rods but they all have a purpose, and I only use 5:1 or 6:1 ratio reels

Re: Cranking rod
I should have the rod Weds.
I will be putting a Curado K or this rod, I upgraded the bearings to ZPI and added bearings to the knobs.
Hopefully it will be a sweet crankbait combo.

Thanks for all your help.Revofisher wrote:I have only had the legend glass for three weeks.
Got the rod today, its pretty sweet and she has a nice thick rear end (the backbone is twice as thick as graphite) the build isGone Phishin wrote: Please let us know what you think, coming from a previous non-glass fisherman.
excellent and the bend is incredible.
I'm not sure what the weight is of the Dobyns Fury 705CB but the St-Croix feels lighter but it is a little tip heavy, I put a
Curado K on the rod and it feels pretty damn good.
As for sensitivity, I haven't fished it yet but dragging the tip across my carpet feels the same as the Dobyns.
I'm going fishing tomorrow and will report back on how it feels, Hopefully I can find some boiling wipers
I bet this rod can launch a 1/2oz lipless crankbait.
Re: Cranking rod
X7 Super Elseil is a great 1/4 to 1/2 oz crankbait rod. It's a superb Pop R rod.

Re: Cranking rod
Looks awesome Bronzeback...now I'm closer to pulling the trigger on one. I have a DR tuned Conquest 101 looking for a new home as well.
Re: Cranking rod
You mean the blank is twice as thick as graphite at the back end of the rod. This is always the case with glass. It's a different material and cannot be rolled as tight as graphite all through the blank.BRONZEBACK32 wrote:the backbone is twice as thick as graphite

I actually like how it looks.Cal wrote:You mean the blank is twice as thick as graphite at the back end of the rod. This is always the case with glass. I was also correct, this thing bombs almost any lure I used, even a 3/8 spybait.
As for sensitivity, it was actually better then I thought it would be, I run 20lb braid so I'm sure that helps, I figure the thin braid gets me deeper and also helps with sensitivity, the drag set correct with a glass rod would be unstoppable.
I could feel all the lures I used vibrations and clacks.
I used SK 5xd, LC LV500, SK KVD HC Flat Side 1.5, Jackall cherry DD, Jackall TN60, SK Redeye shad 2 Tap and a
Duo Realis Spybait 80 just for fun.
I only caught 5 smallmouth yesterday and only 1 on this rod but it felt very VERY smooth and the bend is incredible.
Did I mention how far this rod bombs lures
