Advice

Post by TBurnum2 » Fri Apr 20, 2018 3:17 pm

Im looking at buying another casting rod to be used predominantly for skipping/pitching 3/8-1/2 oz jigs and creature baits around cover. Im having a tough time deciding what rod to exactly get. Ive narrowed it down to a couple different rods but im here looking for some imput on what would be the best option! Ive been looking at the Dobyns Champion Extreme Hp 705 and the 704, the Champion XP 735 and finally the Abu Garcia Fantasista premier 7’ medium heavy! Ive never fished a Dobyns rod before but im seriously considering it! Suggestions would be greatly appreciated

First off, welcome to the forum. Personally, I like a rod in the 6-6 to 6-10 range for skipping docks. 7' is too long for my use, but everybody has their own preferences. The Falcon Cara ST Finesse jig rod would work nicely for your intended purpose. It is very sensitive and works great in close quarters. The tip is nice and soft for accurate pitches, but it gets backbone quickly.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.
