Heavy or extra heavy rod for 12 exsense dc

Post by VAsmallies » Thu Mar 15, 2018 11:43 am

I’m looking for a rod to pair with a exsense dc. Current heaviest power bottom contact rod is a dobyns 744 hp. Looking for something a notch up in power from that. I’ll be using it primarily for heavy football jigs, big worms, and Carolina rigs where distance casting is a priority. Secondary uses are frogs and flipping, bonus if I can throw a 5” or 6” flutter spoon and bull shad. I’ll be adding a swimbait rod later, so not as much of a concern. Will be using braid with a leader at times, so no true micro or recoil guides. Thinking Valdiva or warhammer in destroyer series, a previous generation xx flipping special or the new aklys, bj power versitle,or helium 3 7’3” or 7’6” xh. Sensitivity and balance (although hard in a long heavy powered rod) are priorities. Open to other options as well. Destroyer series is the top end of my budget. What would you suggest?

Try the new Phenix k2 736. Not sure if it's on their website yet, but I do know the production version is available.
