I have 4 new GLX rods and when I whip them up and down I hear creaking? Is this normal?

I feel I've heard this before; but I'm bored and look for annoying things like this....

Really? Dang was hoping it was just a part of the blank/epoxy/guide's etc.

Checked them again and they are make noise when you rock them back and forth.

Yes, this is normal when they are fresh. I had one a few years back, sent it back, they sent me another and it did the same thing. I called and they said that when they are fresh they will do this and with use they will stop. Fish them and it will go away. They sad it was where the epoxy for the eyes meets the rod blank. (not sure how that would make the noise) but either way I have had at least three that were noisy and they quieted with use.

I have an E6X do that and one that did it before. its the epoxy in between the guide foot and the rod. it gets a crack from flexing and makes the 'click'


its nothing, but older loomis rods didn't seem to do this as often.

I think they have changed how they put the guides on. probably more epoxy used now.

This happened on my 782 GLX spin years ago. Never altered performance but was weird.

I had a cherry wood that did this. I have not experienced this on a higher end rod but I imagine they are not immune

My Tatula flipping rod did that at first, but none of the others did. Other than being better suited for frogging, the rod seems fine to me.

You know, I never really thought about it but I bought a new GLX this past October and I swear it made a little creaking noises the first few times I had it out. I had attributed it to the cold weather and the rather crusty florocarbon I had spooled up. I haven't noticed it in months, so whatever it was it did go away pretty quickly.

I have brand new MBR844 GLX . I hear the exact same "creaking" sound when I do the flex test on the carpet. I thought it was weird also. Haven't had a chance to fish it yet, hope it goes away.

I had an E6X rod where the crack in the epoxy was at the first spinning guide (the big one) so when I cast it made a loud audible click. Drove me crazy

you could reproduce the sound simply by pushing the guide foot with your finger. I returned it for another.

showed the store where I bought it and the let me exchange it no problem.

This is not abnormal, I’ve had quite a few fresh built rods creak a bit. Will be fine.

Every NFC blank I have does this. It really worried me the 1st time I had them under load. It goes away after use for the most part.
