What’s your Finesse spinning rod?
Re: What’s your Finesse spinning rod?
I use a 7'ML Villain 2.0 rod, catch hell for it, being an Abu China-made junker, but damn it's a good rod. Has a XF action, but it feels more like a stiff ML spinning rod with a Medium crank rod (baitcasting) last 1/3. Micro guides are the only issue, great action for dropshots.
Using a Revo STX20 on it right now... Not for long, its getting moved to a Light powered "fun" rod for bream and crappie, going to get a Ci4+FB or Daiwa equivalent.
For the guy who has the 1000 size Stradic Ci4+FB, is it strong enough to get it done??? I have a desire for a 1000 size, but everyone always tells me there are so many more advantages to a 2500, especially as light as the 2500+ sizes are now...

I have a quiver full of Major Craft rods from UL thru ML for my finesse spinning needs but I am partial to my Dobyns Champion 681 and 701 SF's

No the 3 i have are first gen. I also wonder the difference in the old vs. New. It says there 10% lighter but they dropped the msrp almost 100$.
Re: What’s your Finesse spinning rod?
Haha we should get together and compare our exprides. Pretty sure the new ones went with alconite rings, SIC tip (like the Zodias). I have 3 and they are exceptional rods. Might have to pick up more...bronzebacks wrote:No the 3 i have are first gen. I also wonder the difference in the old vs. New. It says there 10% lighter but they dropped the msrp almost 100$.

Graphiteleader veloce rv. Weighs only 85grams!
Re: What’s your Finesse spinning rod?
St. Croix Rage MLXF with a Pfleuger Supreme reel. Very versatile for lures from 1/8 - 1/2 ounce. Anything from Crappie Jigs up to 07 size Shad Raps.
Just picked up a St. Croix Legend Extreme 7’ LF for smaller Crappie Jigs down to 1/16 ounce. Going to be a good one I believe.

The one I tend to pick up the most often? A St. Croix PS56MF. Premium series, 5'6" , M, F, 1/4 to 5/8s ozs., 6 to 12 lbs. line. I use a Shimano Ci4+, 10 lbs. braid to an 8 lbs. fluoro leader.
5'6" ? Well, I fish from either a kayak or a canoe and the general shortness greatly enhances the accuracy if you are fishing up close and not making longer casts.
The shortness of the rod also gives you better leverage (actually less bad leverage) over a fish.
One poster posted that 6'3" rod as his preferred rod. That was a beauty, too!

Found both 1st and 2nd gen Exprides at a shop over the the weekend. The ones I handled: the 1st gen had larger guides throughout, definitely felt more tip-heavy on all 4 models both spinning and casting, no clue if the actual weight is more or less. The Ci4 reel seat is shiny/hard on the 1st gen and a matt/rubberized finish on the 2nd gen.bronzebacks wrote:No the 3 i have are first gen. I also wonder the difference in the old vs. New. Also got to play with the previous gen Poison Adrena...so many rods, so little $$$ lol

Re: What’s your Finesse spinning rod?
Thanks. Now i want to fish a gen2 to compare to the first gen. To be honest i wasn't blown away by the sensitivity of the first gen but read how you like the new ones. So i got to try one now I use my 2 casting exprides for moving baits.reason162 wrote:Found both 1st and 2nd gen Exprides at a shop over the the weekend.
