Has anyone handled both of these rods yet? The newer GLX version of this rod(2016-)? I plan on throwing 4"-5" senkos, tubes, keitech shad impacts and 1/4 ball head grubs too! Im sure Bronzefly can give a review? Unless hes dropped everything for the Conquests?

I'd only throw wacky senko in open water for the 852S. Checkout the new 843S Conquest :)

Thanks cndbasshinter!
But, I'm not going anywhere near the Conquest. Not trying to spend that much money right now on one rod. And I'm not trying to buy one and get spoiled(ruined). Because, I just bought 6 Loomis GLX's this year and 3 chronarch mgl's and a Daiwa sv103. So, I spent a good amount of cash on my new set ups. Not trying to replace all those 5 months later! Lol
Just trying to get a good comparison between the Glx852s vs Nrx852s when it comes to the applications I mentioned. There is an 80 dollar difference between the two rods. I love my new GLX's and they have narrowed the gap between the two models in power and performance. But, I have heard that there is still a considerable difference in performance between the rods when it comes to specific rods in each models(ex. GLX893vs. NRX893). I've heard great(rave) reviews on the NRX852S but nothing really on the new Glx852s. That's why I'm weighing my options!
Thanks again!

i have not fished the new 852s GLX but i can tell you that you cannot go wrong with the NRX. On sale it should narrow that $80 gap. i hold spinning rods with all fingers above the reel seat and i love the short foregrip on the NRXs. I have two fingers on the blank and balances well with a light reel like the 2500 Ci4+.

I own about 10 spinning rods (old GLX, NRX, Legend Elite) and the NRX 852s is my favorite. im sure the new GLX is great too!

I'll be focused on the Conquest rods over the winter yes indeed. However, the new 2016 GLX certainly has narrowed the once significant gap between GLX/NRX in my hands. The GLX feels a little more powerful in hand than the NRX 852s JWR, but I certainly agree the NRX 852s (and 872s for that matter) are spectacular rods. If the $ difference doesn't mean a whole lot, go for the NRX. Obviously, The Tackle Trap will match any of those sales going on out there and offers great deals for TT members year round without the need to wait on any sales... just get in touch.

Well,
It's a done deal! Just ordered two rods. An NRX852S and the NRX893C. I want to give a huge shout out to Gary and the fellas at TACKLE TRAP for a great deal! And for their constant professionalism and advice! FYI, Tackle trap is having a huge sale on the Megabass Orochi XX rods too. 100.00 dollars off each rod! So, get them while he had them. They are out of the jerbait special though. I would've bought one of those too. They have a few flat side specials left which are very similar but is a longer rod!
Thanks again Gary

I can't give much love to any spinning rod but that 893 is another story :big grin: action of the rod is very cool. A great 12# FC or 30# braid rod. I've even had good luck in winter slow rolling small swimbaits on 8# yozuri hybrid.
