Looking for recommendations on best light wire swim jig Rod I use 15 lb fl. I use a 843 nrx now sometimes I get small hits wondering if Rod is too fast and missing bites because of it possibly a mod fast Rod would be better let me know your thought new conquest 906 has really gotten my attention but I'm sure it's not much different than 843

My Megabass Orochi XX Flatside Special is perfect for lighter wire swim jigs.

Depending on cover 843 is fine, but in the thicker stuff the 844 glx might fit better. I am personally waiting on 904 and 905 conquest )

A 7'6" med heavy rod with a moderately fast taper is ideal for smaller swimbaits, swimjigs, and spinnerbaits.
There is an Abu Veritas frog rod that works really well, and is only $119 from Tacklewarehouse.

Webby, which Conquest are you looking at as there isn't a 906? I'm guessing the Conquest 903 is going to be a phenomenal swim jig rod, among other things. The Conquest 904 MBR will be at The Tackle Trap on Friday, along with the 843 SJR spin jig rod. I'll be giving the 904 some time on the water pretty soon!

As much as I like the MBR series, and actually enjoy the E6X version of the 903 for moving baits, I'm very curious about the 903. I'll be using it along with the 904 and 905 over the winter months and it looks like the 904 will be the first up

I fish 1/4 oz northern style swim jigs on a pretty fast rod and often have to give the tip a sharp pop to bring the jig through grass. For those of you that throw light wire swim jigs on a slower rod, do you feel like you are able to fish grass efficiently?

I do, because I use 30lb braid with a 30" 25lb mono leader, which lets me rip the bait free instead of bogging down.
A friend turned me onto the rod and line combination. Because of the moderate fast action, It lets me cast lighter baits well, but still rip the bait free of the weeds with the braid.

I've had good results with the Dobyns Champion 733. Loads well with the lighter weight when casting. Enough tip to let the fish eat & keeps them pinned. Typically fish with braid & a 12lb - 14lb leader.

Haven't used any of my XX Flatside Specials with swim jigs as I typically use my XX Extreme Mission with my 'Northern Style' swim jigs. Good balance of enough tip to fish grass, but soft enough to hook up short strikers.
