An '1/8 oz' as in an 1/8 oz jighead and 4 inch plastic or a true 1/8 oz bait like a 2 inch long Reble Teeny Pop R? I cast baits an 1/8 oz jighead and a 4 inch worm all the time on a M Cherry Wood but that bait weighs well over a 1/4 oz total weight.Drew03cmc wrote:I can cast 1/8oz on my original Lightning Rod 5'6" M with my Morrum SX1600C Hi-Speed. Any quality blank of a mod-fast action is capable with the right reel, IMO.

To be fair the 5'6'' M Berkley Cherry Wood fishes more like a ML. The 5'6'' model has a small diameter blank and loads deeply with baits s light as 3/16 oz total weight. I'm willing to bet your lightning rod is similar. Either way the OP has already stated that his ML Majorcraft is too stiff for what he wants.

1/8oz actual, I took the hooks and split rings off a Rapala SSR5 and was tossing it around the yard. Maybe I'll try the Morrum on my Cherrywood 5'6" M.LowRange wrote:An '1/8 oz' as in an 1/8 oz jighead and 4 inch plastic or a true 1/8 oz bait like a 2 inch long Reble Teeny Pop R? Re: "Mag" BFS Casting Rod Input
Perhaps my follow up post got lost in the shuffle. I ended up going the custom route and got a Mag Light NFC IM drop shot blank to build on. Going to be a fun winter project and will post some photos when it is all said and done.
