Best $500 Spinning rod for bottom contact techniques
Re: Best $500 Spinning rod for bottom contact techniques
You want the 852s over the 872s for your purpose. I have both and I find myself using my 852s more.
Get your kids hooked on fishing, and they'll never have any money for drugs or alcohol.

This goes against my thread title but should I also look at the new Loomis/Shimano Conquest spinning rod? I can probably get away with the extra $150.
Difference looks like the NRX model I was looking at is classified as "JWR (Jig worm rod?) where the conquest is apparently the SJR (spin jig rod). Not sure what the difference is in the actions or if this would be an issue for the techniques I'm looking to fish the rod with?

If you want to drop that $650+ on that rod I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

NRX 852 is pretty amazing. I have both casting and spinning. Casting version with 8lb invisx, pxlr, and shakey head, and bizz bait diamond worm is so much fun. Ran that setup off rip rap this weekend on the Mississippi pool 8. Had a blast. I don't think you'll go wrong with it.
