I am struggling with a light plastics rod and told to look at the NRX 852, but when I explained I am a braid to leader guy, the CNN 842 entered the picture. The only negative that is mentioned on the forums is the softer tip of the 842, the the 843 gets recommended, which wouldn't throw weightless senkos as well.

The one constant knock on the CNQ 842 is weather the tip is strong enough for bottom contact worm and jigs, which has me considering the NRX 852. Any first hand knowledge would be appreciated.....

Guess I keep reading......I put is greatly appreciated. Al
I have both the 852c NRX and the 843c Conquest. I feel both and cast weightless senkos. If you are a braid to leader guy, either rod can handle setting the hook on those lighter jigs and worms. I made a video casting a variety of lures with the Conquest 843c. It cant handle a weightless 4in worm or 1/16oz shakeyhead plus 4in worm but, i feel it can handle the weightless senko. The 842c would be a better choice I feel if weightless senkos will be the majority of what you are casting. With braid, I feel you can use the 842c just fine.

I am considering getting one Conquest with some bonus that I received.

I already have a ZBONE 7'3 Heavy, XF and a Helium 3 7' Heavy XFast.

I would be looking to get the Conquest as a ultimate - sensitive Jig rod for 3/8-1/2 oz Jigs. Considering the 903 right now.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Would like to use the 903 also for lipless cranks. Would 1 oz over power the rod?

I couldn't find this in search.

Is the Conquest version of the NRX 822 DSR the Conquest 843S SJR? Or will there be a closer equivalent announced at the Classic?

The 843S is a stick, the 842S would be a much closer representative to the 822 but more balls and slower tip.

What will you be using the 903 for?

Thanks.

Had the chance to briefly test the 903 today and was able to compare to my Z-Bone 7'3 HXF and Orochi Spinnerbait Special.

In short: I am not impressed. Craftmanship on the rod is below the Orochi, which costs less than a third. Sensitivity was below Zbone AND Orochi.

I am sure people will disagree. But I am kind of happy with this result. Means I save a lot of money! ;)

Cheers!

Got to use my Conquest 843 the other day and was very impressed, paired it with a steez tw sv, was casting a 3/8oz kietech III swimjig with trailer. The rods tip is not as light as I feared, and it loads very nicely upon casting. The rod is extremely light and the full grip feels very comfortable in the hand. Feels a lot like my poison glorious.

It is a good sign if I catch a fish when testing a new rod out, in this case I think I have a winner!

I think I would like to try one of these some day. I mean sensitivity is a relative term in my eyes. I have fished custom rods with K2 blanks and did find them very sensitive, but not that much more than lets say a Dobyns DX. I prefer some backbone and strength with my rods which Shimano seemed to do with this rod. I think durability may be where this mecca of rods shines the most. As "sensitive" as they come with the durability of an Ugly stik. Maybe that should be their pitch.

I got the 843S, it's got some balls. Should fit perfectly above my nrx 852s and 872s.
