Extreme HP 743/744C vs Orochi XX EMTF
Extreme HP 743/744C vs Orochi XX EMTF
Looking for feedback regarding the Dobyns Extreme HP 743/744C vs the Megabass Orochi XX Extreme Mission Type-F. Applications are weightless senko, 1/4-3/8oz T-rig, spinnerbaits, and swimjigs. My gut feeling is the XX EMTF based on the reviews that say how versatile it is. I've searched and read the comparisons against the older DX models but not the new HP lineup. Would love to try the new US Destroyers but trying to keep my budget <$300.

I only have experience with the EMTF but let me tell you it is one special rod. Terrific sensitivity and balance. I would definitely go for that one.

EMTF. x4! I've had mines for only one season but I never fish without it.

EMTF all the way, I love mine. It definitely checks all the boxes.

How does the EMTF compare to the NRX893?

EMTF has a fast action and more power. The 893 has an xf action and less power. The taper of the EMTF allows the angler to fish spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, swimjigs etc in addition to bottom contact apps and weightless baits. The 893 is more of just a bottom contact and weightless plastic rod. The 893 also has the edge in feel.Mothra wrote:How does the EMTF compare to the NRX893?

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like the decision is unanimous, EMTF is it.

dang, no love for the hp? i wonder if the people that voted EMTF have even fished the HP before declaring victory
Re: Extreme HP 743/744C vs Orochi XX EMTF
common man, you know the answer to that. The original post never mentions cover or line being fished and this is a key factor as well. I'm reading this post and thinking based on cover and what I have fished, maybe none of the above should be on the menu of repliesChode wrote:dang, no love for the hp? i wonder if the people that voted EMTF have even fished the HP before declaring victory

Not sure what you're implying. I specifically said in my post that I have no experience with the HP but I sure know I love my EMTF.Chode wrote:i know right. what was i thinkingDavidSA wrote:common man, you know the answer to that.Chode wrote:dang, no love for the hp? i wonder if the people that voted EMTF have even fished the HP before declaring victory

I was not trying to pick on anyone Don't think anyone says they owned the HP nor willing to admit.

Don't have the HP or the XX, but I have the original DX744C and if you're fishing spinnerbaits and swimjigs, then you'll want the 744 over the 743.
