rod suggestions

Post by gailt » Wed Jul 12, 2017 8:57 pm

I need a suggestion on a rod to use on my daiwa sv105xh steez limited.Could someone please point me in the right direction what rod they pair with this reel with, and what they use it for,and a good swim jig setup, not necessarily with this reel.I have a lot of reels but a shortage of dedicated rods.
thanks

Its' bunch of rods you can use with this reel,I believe any rod up to 3/4-1/0 oz . What weights you wanna use with that?

Thats my favorite reel I have. Ive paired it with several rods. an 853 glx, and an 852 and 854 nrx. Its a pretty versatile reel is my point. Currently it lives on an 853 glx and I throw 1/4 oz jigs and shaky heads from 3/16-1/4. I think it pairs best with my 852 nrx. Pretty perfect combo if you ask me. Just yesterday I took that combo out and fished a wacky rigged roboworm in a wacky head and an evergreen spook. Awesome, versatile combo. Actually probably my favorite combo. If I had to suggest a single rod to pair it with I would say the 852 nrx. or another 2 power rod

depends on where you fish and the line. swim jigs can be in heavy grass or mostly open water. Anything from a MH to H rod; just need a relatively soft tip.

I recently picked up a new St. Croix Legend Tournament Sweeper Spinnerbait rod. 7'0" MHMF rod that I bought for buzzbaits and bladed jigs. I threw swim jigs with it this week. Add them to the list of lures this rod excels at throwing. The modified fast tip let's you throw all 3 lures much farther than a standard MH Fast rod. It loads up exceptionally well.
I teamed it with a Revo STX-SHS (8.0:1) reel spooled with 20# Sunline Super Natural mono (same diameter as 17# XL).
Worth a look as an all around rod. Check TW during their 20% off sales.
