I use spinning gear for flukes. I fish a zoom super fluke, weightless. Its my go to bait and I fish it year around. I use a MB XX shakey head rod. Its perfect.

Depends on the size you're throwing and if you're throwing near or into cover. For lighter flukes the NRX 852 is perfect. If you're throwing larger the 843 NRX or GLX is excellent.

Daiwa SV105 in 7.x:1 (got a great deal on the SV, otherwise an Alphas is the same reel for generally less)
G.Loomis GLX MBR 842
30 lb. braid to 8-10 lb. leader

That little SV105 with the lighter braid throws baits unreal distances, even weightless. I'm definitely completely sold on the SV spools.

I would think that a jerkbait taper would work well. I use a Zodias ML for flukes and jerkaits as well as a number of other baits. As a ML mod fast it's similar to a jerkbait rod.

I use a NRX 852 if there's not too much grass. For heavier grass, I use a NRX 893. I like an OG Steez with an SV 105 spool on both rods.

I'm using an older Kistler LTA 7' MF with a Steez that has an SV105 spool in it. I throw weightless super flukes on an Owner 3/0 light wire hook all the up to a 3/16oz weighted 4/0 hook. 20# braid with a fluoro leader of some sort. I currently have that spool in with Ian for a little tuning but I could already throw a weightless fluke as far as I needed.

I love using Crank baits, Jerk baits, Jigs, Worms, top water plugs and hollow body Frogs as the staples of my tackle bag but I have thrown weightless Zoom Super Flukes successfully more than any other bait. I have had great success throwing them on a St. Croix LTB 6'8" MF Jerkbait rod with a Steez SV6.3 reel. This bait launches easily on this combo and it is an accurate and deadly weapon for slaying bass. The rod has just enough backbone if you have to horse in a big one while the tip and taper will keep the hook pinned once you give a nice hook set. :big grin:

I use a NXR 893 and MB EMTF XX and both handle my fluke and senko needs very well. I like the EMTF better for the larger senkos,

Either of these would be excellent choices. If for some reason you don't want a rod quite this long, the MB Diablo Spec-R would also be great. At this point, I don't have a dedicated rod for this purpose, but I've found that almost any MH rod in my arsenal throws it well. By staying in this range, I'm also more confident about the way the rod handles the double fluke rig.

I use an NRX 852c with Alphas SV for flukes and weightless senkos.

My ultimate rod for flukes paired with a TDZ is this. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewlamiglasexc722.html
Mine is a custom built on the same blank. I believe Dragon1 has one that he is trading on BBC. Just an awesome blank that really launches larger zoom flukes, with a small split shot in the front. I pretty much empty out most of my line on every cast, and it has the right amount of power for long distance hooksets. A very special rod in my book, wish I had more of them.
Get your kids hooked on fishing, and they'll never have any money for drugs or alcohol.

I don't throw flukes too often, but when I do, it's on the XX EMTF. I think it performs fantastic as a fluke rod.
