I've been using the E6X 822DSR the last couple of years so this will be a huge improvement.

The pics of the build quality on the GLX look amazing.
Anyone own both GLX and Helium 3? I did extensive googling, got nothing.

I am super excited to try these after reading this thread. i ended up getting the rod and a curado 70 xg which will have 12 lb line for 1/4- 3/8 oz jigs in open water situations ill get back with the results once i fish it.
How is it compared to NRX, did you use it long enough to compare?

Really excited about this lineup. GLX rods are my favorite...I gravitated to NRX when they stopped offering blanks. I really like the aesthetics of this series, nice touch with the finish around the bottom and the rest unfinished...also SiC the whole way. Can't wait to try one...or a bunch!

I finally had a little time to post some more information on the Mag Bass GLX models.

842 GLX 2016 = 4.0 oz.
842 GLX Previous = 4.3 oz.

843 GLX 2016 = 4.2 oz.
843 GLX Previous = 4.7 oz.

844 GLX 2016 = 4.6 oz.
844 GLX Previous = 4.9 oz.

My scales are perfect, or certified, but they're reasonably accurate. These 2016 GLX models fish with "slightly" less power than their previous counterparts. It's most noticeable to me fishing both 842 models side by side. Perhaps there is a 1/4 power difference between them, again with the 842 being the largest difference in my hands.

I've been using the new 2016 models for the same techniques I've used the previous models for without issue. As a big fan of the previous MBR GLX rods, these new 2016 models are great. They are lighter as evidenced by the weights, they're comfortable in hand, and they do feel equally if not a little more crisp.

With some of the sales going on and the lapse in time I thought it would be nice to revive this thread. I have the MBR 844 en route!

I currently have the MBR 842, 843, 844, JWR 893, 894, FPR 954, and plan on adding more. Had a chance to hold each and every model at Outdoor Pro Shop. I am really really liking these rods. Now I need to decide between the FPR 894 and JWR 895 for flipping jigs and 3/4 ounce light punching duty. I also am eyeballing the FPR 953, heard it's a versatile stick. Feel like a child with Pokemon, gotta catch'em all! haha.

Just had a chance to put time in with my new GLX MBR 842 and thought I would give my .02. Paired it with a Curado 70 HG and 12# Sniper. Threw a Jackall MC 60, Vision 110, wacky senko, and a Vixen. Fished them all flawlessly. I was never big on Medium power casting rods as spinning gear picked up that duty but because of how sensitive / versatile it is, this rod will replace my medium power glass crank rods. Awesome rod for 3/8 oz crankbaits and topwaters. Plan on getting another.

I'm ordering 6 or 7 of these tonight; going from 14 rods for walleye/bass down to these 6 or 7.

No reason I can't double duty a few of them.

I haven't handled them in person, but love the looks and rave reviews so I'm pulling the trigger.

I'll post comments and rod weights after everything gets in.

I got a chance to spend a few hours today with the MBR 844. I first tied on a 3/8 oz chatterbait with a keitech paddle tail trailer. It fished that bait perfectly. I also used a 1/2 oz jig with a craw trailer as well. The rod felt just as at home with the jig as well. Sadly I had zero bites on either and the only thing the fish wanted was a jerkbait :( . I will keep putting in more time with the rod to help draw comparisons to the NRX line. I will say the rod felt very crisp and blank diameter seemed to be slightly thinner than the older IMX 844 I had years ago. This rod is precisely what I was hoping for and I feel the sensitivity is outstanding. When the jig bite kicks in I will keep fishing the rod side by side with a NRX 873 to see if I can distinguish a difference in feel. If there is it is not by much and I really appreciate the nice full grip cork option of the GLX 844.

I think if I guy wanted to build an arsenal around the new GLX rods to mirror the older GLX rods (not the last gen green rods) he would be happy to start with the MBR series and then add in a few specialty rods as needed.

I see TT just posted their MBR842C review, and the rod is a little lighter powered than the old MBR842 GLX.

I wonder if I could use this new one for spinnerbaits and small/med cranks, traps etc?

Maybe the 843C will be my 1/2oz football/hula grub rod.

Can't wait for the fedex truck to get here; I'm off work today which is making it worse:)
