Powell frog rod?

Post by spiderguy4978 » Sat Jul 02, 2016 5:11 am

I remember a few years ago I used to see Powell and Dobyns rods suggested right off the bat if anyone was looking for a dedicated frog rod. Did something happen that made Powell's no longer a good choice? I'm currently thinking of picking up a dedicated frog rod and have been able to narrow it down to a Dobyns 735 or maybe an iRod Fred's magic stick, but can't help coming back to the Powell Max 3D Mag frog rod.

I think Powell still makes an excellent frog rod. I don't have the Max 3D rods, but I still use 2 of the original Max rods for frogging. With all the new rods hitting the market at low prices, the Powell has been overshadowed. But make no mistake, they still make a good product.

Fred's Magic Stick. Tons of power and the right tip for walking a frog. Can't go wrong.
