I can skim a 1/2oz or 3/8oz Keitech Model 1 very well on my NRX 853C. 15lb InvizX.

You should give the Model 3 Swim Jig /4.8 FAT a try. Holy Hell! You might just skip it accidentally. I can put that bait anywhere. ZLN100HL-TWS/TAT721MHRB-G/40# J-Braid
This is the way.

I bet it does! I personally haven't tried the M3, since I don't stock them at the store I work at, but they've always looked intriguing. I may have to try some out this spring, though!

The Model 3 is one of my favorite swim jigs. I use the 3/8 oz.

Me too. I like all of them. I rarely miss a fish, they weed out the dinks, they come through the slop, they cast, they're sensitive, they're durable, they help your baits last longer, they give them better action...

I'm a shorter person (5'8") so I like a shorter rod. I use a St Croix 6'8" medium xtra fast. By which ever model suits your budget.

I'm going to try skipping docks this season also. A first for me. I'm going to start with a G Loomis GLX MBR 843 or the 844 as that is what I have. Reel will be a Daiwa Steez svtw 7.1 / 1

They're great for a lot of applications.

On a side note concerning the original post, I got a Zillion 661HFB last year, thinking it would be perfect for skipping jigs, but for me it doesn't have a flexible enough tip. For me a limber tip is key. I have a lot better luck using the Tatula 711MHXB because it's not so much of a pool cue. It's really easy with the 721MHRB-Glass composite, but it's hard to get a solid hookset on a heavy jig. It slays with moving baits in open water, but docks, not so much. I can skip with the Zillion and I think the length is perfect, but it's just not as easy as I expected. I have to put too much energy into loading the tip to get a smooth cast. I'm sure with more practice I will get better. Hopefully I just need to spend more time with it. I think it would make a great close quarters frogging rod, especially since the short length will make walking the dog a breeze, but I haven't tried that yet, so maybe I can improve by skipping frogs with it before going back to jigs.

The reason I bring this up is that the Tatula Elite series has a couple of rods labeled for skipping but since they're the same SVF X45 graphite, which tends to make for stiff rods with all the backbone in the world for setting the hook and powering fish out from under the dock, but also have high strung tips that make it harder to get the jig under there in the first place. I don't know if they'd really be ideal depending on your skipping style and proficiency. I hope someone with experience with those rods will weigh in with their opinion on them.
This is the way.
