What is the weight of one of the pieces of lead that you insert into the cap?

It balances out right behind the reel seat lock nut.

That's the 894 but the 895 does the exact same. I just grabbed it as it wasn't packed in my quiver

It's super easy. Just drop a couple of weights in and slide it on the butt. It has talc powder on it so it makes it easier to slide on. You will have to take it on and off a few time to get the desired balance. Each kit comes with 3 weights. Get a handful of quarters and take your time.

do u know how much total weight was added to the 894 & 895 to balance it out like that?

I'll get the scale out after work, but the 895 took two weights and two quarters. The 894 took one weight and two quarters.

That removable "Butt plug" is very ugly, but it works!

Forgive give, but I'm having a difficult time understanding this balancing concept. You guys balance the rod while it is held in your hand in the backyard or wherever. So, now what happens to that perfect balance when you tie on a 3/8, 1/2oz. lure (maybe add a trailer) and you swing that rod, or you start cranking. I'm sure whatever the angle of your rod while swinging or cranking will greatly affect that perfect balance too. :-k
