Steez XT

I own several steez rods and was excited to see the ags version come out. However, I think daiwa's home run is with the XT series as far as a marketing standpoint. It offers XX buyers a Steez with Alconites for the same price. I wasn't interested until I saw they had cranking rods in the line. The 7' M/regular that has a lure rating of 1/8-1oz looks appealing.

i'm not sold on these yet. the knock on steez rods has always been in the sensitivity dept so need to know what these will offer in the $300 category. zillions offer sic guides whereas xt offer alconite so already a minus there

not going to dismiss these yet and will keep an eye out for user reviews

I've not heard, seen, or read of trouble with Alconite of yet. I mean, how much hardness is enough? I'm no expert, and at risk of coming across really stupid here, but I believe I once read even the vaunted MB X7 series uses them?

for me it's not a knock on alconite in general--more so in pricing since zillion is considered a lower model yet offer sic as opposed to alconite. so my thing is did daiwa use a better blank to justify the cost increase btwn xt and zillion? or did they pull a shimano and slap a bigger name on a rod that's essentially the same?

I scratched my head at what seemed like a guide discrepancy between the zillion/XT, but after further thought...it makes sense. For roughly the same coin you have the choice of an alconite Steez or Sic zillion. It just highlights component cost.

Mattman probably has specific weights.

For casting guides, the difference in weight between same sized K guides with either stainless, titanium, Alconite, or SiC will be indistinguishable to a human. The two biggest guides on a spinning rod will have a somewhat significant difference in certain configurations (though still pretty small).

Some good comments. I honestly need another rod like I need a hole in my head...but the excessive American in me says an 8'MH stick would make my pitches the envy of my friends.

I ordered the 7' MR for 4" swimbaits and smaller. I want to be able to throw 8 to 12lb line. Might order the new 103 or 105 to pair with it.

Anyone any experience on the Steez XT (particular 7'4'' Heavy)? Considering the rod as a heavy jig rod. How is the sensitivity?

Thanks!

No that is false. Megabass x7s are Fuji kr concept titanium guides.

This is true :D They are not alconite, but I should have mentioned the sic inserts as well. I have 2 steez xt rods. I have the 7-4 frog rod and the 8’ heavy. I like the frog rod a lot more than the flip/punch. The action on the 8’ heavy was too fast with too much backbone for me although the sensitivity was pretty decent . I have a few other heavy flipping rods I like more. I think the frog rod is pretty nice has a good tip for working them and a perfect frogging taper to lay into them. I use it as a backup frog rod to my gen 1 orochi perfect pitch. I never tried the frog rod for bottom contact.
