I'm not sure exactly how light you mean when you say light jigs, but I've got a Tour Versatile and I can't see being able to throw a 1/4oz jig on it. At least not very well. I've mostly used it for heavier hardbaits so far but last time out I had a double fluke rig tied on it with swimming flukes and weighted swimbait hooks instead of regular. It threw it, but it wasn't gonna win any distance awards and didn't really load the road all that well.

Just picked up a Diablo spec r and it would most definitely fall into the 3/16-3/8oz finesse jig comfort zone. That's what I've been casting around in the snow at least. Hair softer then my nrx 893, which I feel is the ultimate 3-8-1/2oz finesse jig stick.

100% hands down no questions asked, get the XX EMTF. Amazing rod with unbeatable performance at its $300 price point. I have the EMTF as well as the dobyns DX 744C and I feel the EMTF is a better all around rod and outperforms the dobyns in both casting distance and with a fish on.

go with the Dobyns. you wont regret it. dx744 is an amazing rod and with a much better warranty. after three years if anything goes wrong with your megabass what would you do? if you use braid the alconite insert for the guides in the megabass wont hold up. you wont have that problem with the dx744.

Post one example of alconite not holding up to braid. The Zirc guides on the DX are comparable in hardness to the Alconite to boot. I use braid on my XX, no issues. I've used braid with Alconite guides for years.hookset718 wrote:go with the Dobyns. you wont regret it. dx744 is an amazing rod and with a much better warranty. after three years if anything goes wrong with your megabass what would you do? if you use braid the alconite insert for the guides in the megabass wont hold up. you wont have that problem with the dx744.

I have a pile of DXs and never had a problem with the guides and braid , and I would buy one over the envy because I hate recoils and They can be found for really good deals all over.

I've had 5 guide inserts crack or pop out on my Champions and DXs in the past 3 seasons. I've only ever had 1 Fuji guide inset pop out in the last 20 years. I hate the guides that Dobyns use on their rods. As far as warranties go, 3 years is more than sufficient to cover manufacturer defects.hookset718 wrote:go with the Dobyns. you wont regret it. dx744 is an amazing rod and with a much better warranty. after three years if anything goes wrong with your megabass what would you do? if you use braid the alconite insert for the guides in the megabass wont hold up. you wont have that problem with the dx744.

I haven't had one guide problem with any of my Dobyns. Actually there was one but I think that was my fault.
One insert ring on my 795ML separated when I accidentally closed the rod locker lid on it. The 'shock' was bad on the lid & it was stupid windy.
Alconite guides should not be a problem with braid.
