Nrx spinning rod help

Post by mike123 » Wed Aug 13, 2014 7:51 am

I'm looking to buy a NRX spinning rod but I don't know what to get. I'm looking to throw weightless plastics with it, mostly trick worms. Generally there is a fair amount of weeds where I fish. Right now I'm using an avid 68mxf and looking to upgrade. Also how does the nrx compare to the legend elite, I am also considering one of those.

Well, I don't know how the NRX compares with the Legend Elite, but what I can say is that the NRX 852S JWR is the rod you are looking for. Perfect for the lures you mentioned and can handle itself well with a little weeds around.

852 but I'd look hard at a 7mf croix. I'd likely take the croix over the nrx.

I don't think you can go wrong with either choice but that 852 is an amazing spinning rod

Just got my 852s a couple days ago took it out yesterday..the 852 is perfect for weightless worms, senkos, ikas..etc.. I also tossed some 1/4jogs on it too..spent a good 5hrs just fishing this stick yesterday .caught a couple w the jig and tossing an ika..the rod is pretty dam sensitive and the xf tip makes working your lure a breeze

I'll chime in like everyone else...The NRX 852s is the rod...That being said, since it was mentioned, the 7'MF Legend elite is a sweet stick too (for less money)..I fished the 7'MLF LE for lighter stuff for a long time before selling it...

The nrx 872 has a little more tip and might be better for weightless worms. Either rod would be a fine choice

if your near any "true" heavy cover, with big bass, you may want to look into the NRX 804 XMR spinning rod.

it gives you the backbone, if required, to haul a big bass out of heavy cover.

Is the 872 more stout than the 852?

No if any thing its slightly less. To me it feels like the 852 with 2 more inches of tip Its a little softer than the 852 for that reason.
