Need a rod for T3
Need a rod for T3
Any rod recommendations for the T3? I purchased one a couple of months ago but don't know what kind of rod I should pair it with. I'm thinking about a med-power rod for soft plastics and jigs from 1/4 - 3/8 oz. Thanks.

Re: Need a rod for T3
Personally I'd take a look at a 7'3" MH Envy. I've never personally used one, but they're creating a bit of a wave in the industry, the length and weight recommendations are spot on when you factor in hook and soft plastic/trailer weight, and the cosmetic match would be sweettoumo wrote:Any rod recommendations for the T3? Cant really argue against the envy but id throw the phenix umbx into the mix...really sensitive blank with plenty of backbone. I used the glx bcr 803 prior to the umbx and id say the sensitivity is right on par if not a tiny bit better. Hated the 803 cause that thing was just too freakin tipheavy

What kind of price range? Tons of good choices for contact baits…NRX, Megabass, Z-Bone, Legend Xtreme to name a few for high end with many more under it…what about a length preference.
Basstackledepot has a %20 off sale right now and you can get a Dobyns Champion Extreme at a great price…DX703/743 would be great with those wts.

For for throwing 1/4-3/8 it can do it for a Medium but jigs at 3/8 oz with trailer may be near the upper limits of that rod. Just make sure you are not throwing into thick vegetation and you can get by with a Medium. Otherwise go for a MH but that might be too stiff for 1/4.....maybe.

Re: Need a rod for T3
I would suggest a Kistler KLXXF610 it is rated for line lb 12-17 and lure rated at 1/8-5/8 it is a 6'-10" rod but it does a great job with those baits mentioned. I also like it for some of my topwater baits. and at $180.00 I really think that's a great deal!!

Re: Need a rod for T3
Thank you everyone for the suggestions! My preference rod for jigs, soft plastics and smaller paddle tail swimbaits is a medium power rod from 6'6" - 7'. I'm not going to be fishing in a lot of thick vegetation water, mostly clean open water. I really have no preference in rod brands, just want to try out as many as possible. Right now, I have the reel mounted on my Omen rod and I think I'm leaning towards the Envy rod. Many thanks again for the suggestions!

Agreed, I think T3 is best suited for moving baits, especially jerkbait.
I paired my T3 with my jerkbait rod, which is a steez 651.
I think that flip top is awkward if you do pitch/flip and other short distance casting.
T3 has a edge on casting distance when throwing light to medium lures. It casts 1/4~1/2oz jerkbait futher than my chronarch 51E.
Short casting Technic really does not take the full advantage of this reel.
On youtube, daiwa actually advertise using this reel for moving lures required distance, such as crankbait, swimbait etc.

The Omen is no slouch either. I was using my T3 on a 6'7 Omen MF casting 1/4oz inline spinners and it was a beast. Upgraded to a 7'1 M Envy just because during LMB season it'll be my fluke and senko setup. If you like the Omen youll love the Envy. Although I dream of Megabass I was on a budget but I am happy with the envy.
Re: Need a rod for T3
Nice looking combo, just got a T3 during the TW sale, was wondering what rod to pair it up with. That Envy looks sweet.
I put a Lews 95mm CF handle on the T3. Is the cork on the the Envy full size or the new " slim" style.?
