What is your finesse casting rod?
Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
My first venture into using lighter weight baits. I ordered and now own a Megabass F3-69X7 Super Eiger. If you’re looking for a fast action super sensitive rod that can handle baits down to 3.5g you can stop looking this is what you want. If you need to go lower in weight then keep looking.
Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
I had been wanting to get the Dobyns DX742C.
Yesterday, I purchased my first non Dobyns rod.
I got the NRX 852C.
The rod will be paired with a Revo MGX 7:1.1

Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
Powell 682 is finesse as I get before picking up spinning gear. Finally getting a true finesse reel to put on it, a Revo LT, so I'm thinking I'll be able to get significantly lighter than I was with any of my standard Revos.
Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
My new combo is a Steez with Megabass Honeycomb spool on an Evergreen Quad Light. Just waiting for the mailman to get everything together right now.

Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
I like rods that others may consider overpowered, as long as they have a little tip.
My current favorite for small bitsy tubes with 1/16 to 3/16 heads is a 7 foot medium XF Zillion. I usually have a T3 1016 with a Megabass IS spool with hedgehog bfs airs on this rod with 7 pound sunline.
My next favorite currently is a Tatula 7 foot medium regular with a super tuned 6.8 SOL with air bearings and an Ito spool.
I am also working on another T3. This one is a 8-1 MX with hedgehog purple dress up kit and a megabass honeycomb spool with bfs airs. I am fixing this one up solely to skip docks and will likely use another zillion rod or a Steez 7 foot MH.

Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
I was just messing around on the Shimano website, and I noticed that the ratings for the medium power fast action Cumara casting rods are pretty similar to the ratings I have seen for many medium light casting rods. Has anyone tried the CUC68MA or CUC72MA? I would think that these could be some pretty fun rods to use.
Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
I own an earlier Cumara, the CUC68M. It is more like a ML than a M, and easily casts 1/4 oz. It might cast lighter lures; I don't think I've tried yet.PancakeFace22 wrote:...the ratings for the medium power fast action Cumara casting rods are pretty similar to the ratings I have seen for many medium light casting rods. Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
I own the Cumara A 6'8 m/f and it is lighter power than the old one but only slightly. I use it for jerkbaits mainly and it has no problem casting Pointer 95 silent which is well above its rating and down to X-rap 08 which is 1/4 oz. I have thrown Trick worms with 1/16 and 1/32oz tungsten no problem in the local ponds. It has a very light tip with a surprising amount of power in the butt section. Caught a 18lb striper off the bank on it a few months back, handled it no problem. Very sensitive to with the light weight plastics. That's the only finesse I've used on the rod though if you would even call it that.PancakeFace22 wrote:I was just messing around on the Shimano website, and I noticed that the ratings for the medium power fast action Cumara casting rods are pretty similar to the ratings I have seen for many medium light casting rods. I also use the 6'8 medium cumara, great finesse rod. Also use a 6'5 medium action cumulus. Love throwing smaller topwater/cranks and jerkbaits with these rods.

One I use is a Conquest 51S and Dobyns DX701C combo. I run 2/10 Power Pro. I wish I could afford two more of this exact combo...so much fun.
I recently placed an order for some dress up parts; I will post some pics when I get it all together.

The lakes that i fish hardly have any grass. If it does they're damn near compost. 8 - 10lbs. Seagaur Invix.BlaineFred wrote:I'm curious about the type of line or lines that you use...basskeeter1 wrote:DX742 has my vote paired with a core 51e. I even use it for larger crankbaits as well. it's a great all around rod from dropshot 1/8 once, weightless to light c-rig and t-rigs.
and if you fish in any heavy grass areas....

There are so many fine rods listed here!
I really like the Megabass X7 Shading-X and Super Eiger. I have my eye on the new Megabass Destroyer Evoluzion Themis too!

Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
I checked out the Super Eiger at the Classic expo, and man that thing feels amazing. If I wasn't already dead set on getting a Poison Glorious BFS Long Distance, I'd be driving over to Boaz with my tax return. I'll most likely still end up over there within the next few months, hopefully to pick up a Megabass rod of some kind.bronzefly wrote:There are so many fine rods listed here!

Re: What is your finesse casting rod?
My favorite finesse set-up is my Megabass F3-68X4 RattleViper Technical Game paired with a Zonda 68. Very sensitive and I can throw light plastics a good distance. Also a big fan of the NRX 853C paired with either an Aldebaran MG (switched the gears with a Core to get the 7.0:1) or a Steez 103HA.
