13 Fishing Omen

Post by LAGVPI99 » Wed Feb 27, 2013 12:40 pm

Bought a 7'1" M for throwing Shad Raps this spring and shakey heads this summer.

Got it today. Love it. Definitely a fast or XF rod but fit and finish are great and in my opinion it is the best rod in the price range that I have ever seen.

I will have more.

Kills the Abu/Shimano offerings in this price range.

My wife bought me the ML spinning rod for xmas. I'm pretty impressed with it. I got to fish it a couple times before the ice set in, again, lol

Great rod for $100 or even $200

I ordered a 7'6" MH Omen yesterday. Will be here tomorrow. Hope the weather doesn't turn too bad so I can test these babies out on Wed.

I may grab a spinning rod as well. I haven't bought a new spinning rod in about 4 years.

I just won a 7’3" Omen in a bet playing darts with my wife. Will be heading to Gander Mountain to pick it up this weekend, might have to pick up a Lexa 100 to match with it.

Yeah, I have tried that many times and won and still somehow lost and never got to collect. All I can say is I'm jealous.

I did have some assistance from Mich. Ultra and a large order of sashimi ahi.

My Chronarchs (E's) look pretty good on these rods. They usually stick out like a 'sore thumb' because of the white paint but they don't look bad on these and the 7'1"M casts a MILE with 20lb PP and a Little John or Norman Deep Little N.

How has the build quality been? I'm ocd about guide alignment and dead straight blanks. None of the Gander Mnts. or other places by me that carry 13's ice rods/reels are going to be stocking these rods for whatever reason.

The guides on my particular rod are perfect. The blank is absolutely straight.

I'm with you...a set in the rod drives me nuts.

The other think I really like is the lack of obnoxious colors. An under-stated appearance just makes me happy.

A rod should be black - matte - without a bunch of cheesy writing in bright colors.

Except for my Sellus spinning rod that I use for light catfish duty. I like it white so I can see it without a flashlight.

Another thing...I have corresponded with 13 via email a few times. They have always been able to respond quickly and professionally.

I hope I never get to handle an Envy. It may kill my fishing budget.

The blank on the 7'6" Omen I have has a slight set. It is noticeable but not as bad as on the latest NFC HM blank I purchased and about on par with the Cumara I received at the same time as the Omen. I know it is not bad enough to affect performance but it does drive me a little nuts too knowing it is not perfectly straight.
