Daiwa Steez rod user's advice
If you had to pick between a daiwa steez 7'1" compile x or the 7'4" xbd frog rod for a multi purpose rod i.e., t-rigs
7 1/2" to 12" worms, jigs, toads/frogs, pitchin' . Which would you guys prefer. I already have the frog rod and was
considering buying another because of how much I love it. Thought I would run it buy you guys who have or had both to see if I might like the compile x even better.

much prefer the 7'1" as it's more balanced and versatile.
Re: Daiwa Steez rod user's advice
I prefer the 71 too.
Re: Daiwa Steez rod user's advice
I have two of the frog rods and love them but I also have the 7'1" I prefer for jigs and t-rigs

Re: Daiwa Steez rod user's advice
Is the tip stiffer on the 7'1" compile x? And would you say that the action is more of a mod fast than a fast like the tackle tour review says? I was a little worried about that because, generally I like a fast or even an extra fast action as I will be fishing fluoro.

Re: Daiwa Steez rod user's advice
The tip is light on the 7'1". I had no issues pitching and casting 1/4 oz jigs and even spinnerbaits with a steez reel and 17 lb flouro. As for the action, it's not a broomstick, and to me it fished fast, albeit not like an 844glx. I loved the stick when I had it...just switched my fishing style and held onto my 843 to handle those duties when needed.
Re: Daiwa Steez rod user's advice
as said I would go with the 7'1. You can throw frogs on it if you want. It's a beefy stick that also has a decent tip to throw 1/4 oz lures. You probably will not have a lot of accuracy throwing 1/4 but it's definitely doable.

Re: Daiwa Steez rod user's advice
I like the XBD Frog Rod a LOT more than the 7'1" Comp-X rod. The Comp X is dead feeling to me even when stacked up against a comparable Loomis 844 IMX, and isn't even close to an 844 GLX in terms of sensitivity in my hands. Yes, it's sexy looking and I've owned this rod multiple times and really wanted it to perform as good as it looks, but it fell short every time and I got rid of it. I still own and use the XBD Frog Rod but use it for jig/worm fishing more than anything else. I'd rather have the Megabass X4 Destruction as a frog rod, but love the XBD for 10" and bigger worms in deep water...

X2 for X4 Destruction. Had the 7'1"H Comp X and felt the same Gary helped me join the dark side.bronzefly wrote:I like the XBD Frog Rod a LOT more than the 7'1" Comp-X rod. What Megabass rod would be closest in power and action to the Steez Compile-X 7'1", GLX 844, or Dobyns DX744? Preferably closer to 7'4" in length, a rod for all-around jig and soft plastics use.

Re: Daiwa Steez rod user's advice
The F6-72X4 Destruction would have to be the closest to all three, but I like it quite a bit better than any of those listed. It's easily one of the best "all purpose" rods I've ever fished.Micropterus salmoides wrote:What Megabass rod would be closest in power and action to the Steez Compile-X 7'1", GLX 844, or Dobyns DX744? I will also choose 7'1"
as it has greater versatility.
