Who makes the best reel seat for a casting rod?
Primarilly looking for a reel seat that is available to the public for building a custom rod but if in my search I find "THE" rod then it'll end there so any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I'm putting together a bait-casting reel drop-shot rig my handle and seat preference lean towards small and minimalist with a eye towards function and the ability to have the rod in my fingers as well as the line laying over my finger while on retrieve.
Thanks Fastfish
Thanks again and please post pics if your able

I still prefer ECS reel seat, the most comfortable/

I completely agree. I have some more minimalist reel seats but the ECS is by far the best blend of comfort and function.

I like the ECS as well but you may want to look at the Pac Bay Minima seats also.

Ecs reel seat for me too.I try the pac bay reel on a st-croix rage rod and i never hate a reel seat that much, just horrible.Stick with the ecs.

x5. The ECS reel seat is hard to beat for ergonomics and functionality

X6 for ECS. I'm the most comfortable with them and don't care for ACS.

ECS.
ACS is better looking - but ECS is the Coca-Cola-Heinz-Ketchup standard.
Personally most seats work fine for me - I don't get very excited about reel seats, and I haven't found one yet that I feel changes the game OR my fishing in any great way, but...
HAVING SAID THAT - a bad reel seat RUINS a good blank completely.

I like the Fuji SK2 seats best. I have the ECS on my frog rod I built but the SK2 seats feel better to me but I have very big hands.

I like ACS on size 17 with large diameter blanks, fits perfectly and the scuplted trigger edges doesn't sore the finger on long use specially when you're throwing heavy lure, style is nice, ECS never tried one, but have one on a project right now, for smaller reel seat I'll be trying to go back retro, using TDPS size 16, look's promising and liking how it holds.

I like the ACS for the reason mentioned above, on my spinnerbait rods I was getting swollen hands and fingers with the ECS chucking blades all day but the ACS solved that issue. On jig and worm rods the ECS is great, the Pac Bay Minimas on the casting rods and spinning rods feel better than they look but the new Sk2 seats feel good also. The best way for you to decide is to hit a shop up that has rods with various reel seats and try them out and see what you like.daiwa lunatic wrote:I like ACS on size 17 with large diameter blanks, fits perfectly and the scuplted trigger edges doesn't sore the finger on long use specially when you're throwing heavy lure, style is nice, ECS never tried one, but have one on a project right now, for smaller reel seat I'll be trying to go back retro, using TDPS size 16, look's promising and liking how it holds.

Re: Who makes the best reel seat for a casting rod?
I like the ECS as a good basic cant do wrong reel seat. The ACS I use on my big bait sticks and lures that provide lots of resistance. I like how it spaces the fingers out. I have the SK2 spinning seat on a stick I'm building right now and find it very comfortable. I would not hesitate to try out the casting version. It is also lighter than the pac bay minima skeleton seat.

Can't go wrong with the Fuji ECS. If you don't mind the short trigger, the SK2 will work for maximum contact with the blank.

The ECS seat has worked gr8 for me as well but with considerable bench grinder and Dremel modifications I've never fished with any of the other seats mentioned but I like the look of the Pac Bay Minima seat the most of the seats I've seen other than the tried and true Fuji ECS reel seat.

x1000- ECS, I keep trying new ones and go back. Very, very comfortable.
