St Croix legend Elite

Post by Chueyi10 » Mon Feb 04, 2013 7:15 am

Hey TT, I came across this rod but it's the older 05 model and was just looking for more information on the rod. How do you like the rod overall? Sensitivity? What do you use yours for? The rod that I'm looking at is the 7' MHF casting rod. I did read the TT review on this rod, but was looking for more info.

Thanks Nic.

X2 on blank color? If its a brown blank, I didn't like that handle on those, personally. I have three of the earlier 7' mh green blanks and love them. I use them for up to 1/2 oz jigs, texas rigged plastics, and 1/2oz spinnerbaits.

buy it. If you don't like it, then send in to replace a new model for $75.

I'm pretty sure that is the green blank. I had that same rod before the airline broke it along with 5 others. It was a workhorse. I used it lot for pike fishing with spoons, inline spinners & jigs. Sensitive and very stronrg. Would handle heaverier baits than it was rated for without any problems. it will make a good purchase & you can always upgrade it with st croix like mentioned. Very similar to my loomis imx MBR 844C.

It would be the brown blank model. Like the one in the link below.

2nd Gen, first with IPC and ART. IMO, this gen was a sweet spot for aesthetics and QC on the LE/SCV...not quite as light and crisp as Gen 1 SCV, but a little more durable and in my hands, weighted a little more due to St. Croix choosing to make the Gen 2 a little more durable than the Gen 1.

If you can get it for a good price, I would rate this rod very close to the MBR 844 (as stated), in between the IMX and GLX, but with better components and QC than GLoomis of the same genre.

St. Croix's brown Legend Elites are some of the best factory US sticks I've ever used. The perfect blend of performance and aesthetics.
