all purpose finesse rod needed for td-ito 2506c
all purpose finesse rod needed for td-ito 2506c
hello, i'm looking for some ideas on a mulit purpose spinning rod. i'll mainly be fishing finesse type baits that i feel will be easier with spinning gear. so drop shotting, shakey head, small weightless plastics ect. the reel will be the daiwa td-ito 2506c that is still on the way to me. i think it weighs 7.1oz. so any ideas on what length it would balance with would help also.
i've already been looking at the 13 fishing envy, st. croix eyecon, dobyns dx, and phenix m1 and ultra MBX spinning rods.
i hold the rod with the reels arm between my ring and pinky finger so i like the rods with the reversed handles.
as of now, unless i'm talked out of it or find a sweet deal i'm planning on getting a 7'ml.
so lmk what you guys think.
what power and length?
what brands have the pear shape handle like the 13 fishing?
how much would it cost to have a custom made?
if anybody has the ito reel, what rod do you have it paired with?

very nice, the reel should be here on thursday. i think i'll try it on a few different length rods to get an idea of how it balances out on them.
how much would a custom like that run?

The reel looks like a variation of fuego. Very nice combo.

VERY NICE acquisition
The Aaron Martens Megabass F3-610 DGS that's the rod i would put it on.
I'm sure somebody here has a pic of that combo.

The Ito is the true bloodline from where reels like the Fuego "came from"...and it is miles ahead in overall quality, craftsmanship, performance and especially resale and collectibility.james123 wrote:The reel looks like a variation of fuego. please let us know what you decide on lil_man.
my ito is still sitting in its box. i'm having a hard time getting myself to fish the reel.

i just picked up a shimano crucial CRS-D68ML to try out. it's the older model with the split cork handle and has the cutout on the bottom of the foregrip. it's a dark metallic green blank with light green highlights on the wraps. the reel balances perfect on the rod but i'll have to see if the ml action is going to work for me.

I have that Medium power version of that rod. Great bang for the buck rod. I will tell you my hesitations with it. The rear grip is too long for all-round use, and the power is lighter than indicated by the lure ratings. Mine is rated to 3/8 and while I have used it up to 1/2, it's a slow gentle cast with anything 3/8 and heavier. I would say the comfortable top end on mine is maybe 5/16 or 1/4.lil_man72 wrote:i just picked up a shimano crucial CRS-D68ML to try out. it's the older model with the split cork handle and has the cutout on the bottom of the foregrip. it's a dark metallic green blank with light green highlights on the wraps. the reel balances perfect on the rod but i'll have to see if the ml action is going to work for me.
The good: Like I said earlier, great bang for the buck. Sensitivity is in the same ballpark as an SC Avid. I've caught 6lb drum on Erie and 30 in. pike in Canada with it. I wouldn't say it handled them no problem, but it handled them.
My biggest concern for you is the power, I think it'll be lacking in the ML. The only way to find out is to fish it.
Good luck

The Kistler Micro-magnesium or the Fenwick Elite tech smallmouth series look nice with that reel. Color match is very close.

Go get a custom made or get a MB spinning rod. It deserves it.lil_man72 wrote:hello, i'm looking for some ideas on a mulit purpose spinning rod. i'll mainly be fishing finesse type baits that i feel will be easier with spinning gear. so drop shotting, shakey head, small weightless plastics ect. the reel will be the daiwa td-ito 2506c that is still on the way to me. i think it weighs 7.1oz. so any ideas on what length it would balance with would help also.
