Powell vs. Duckett for dragging football jigs

Post by mike1045 » Thu May 17, 2012 2:29 pm

I am buying a rod to specifically drag 1/2-3/4 oz football jigs in 6-15 feet.
I want to spend less than $200. It needs split grip cork handles and as long of a handle as possible for tucking it between my arm and side for comfortable dragging.

I have it down to the Powell 753CEF football jig rod, or the Duckett DFMM73MHC.

Opinions please!

I have never tried a Duckett rod. But I must say I love my Powell FB jig rod. I fish alot of 1/2 and 1oz jigs and this rod handles them with easy. Plus you can feel every little rock. The powell also has a long handle to really be able to drag that jig on the bottom. Hope this helps.

Wait until September. Powell is releasing an Endurance 804CEF. Right now I am using the Powell Endurance 775C MagMH XF and a new (foam handle) 7'11" Shimano Crucial H XF. Love the Powell...Not so fond of the Crucial.
