www.thehookuptackle.com has 20% off sale right now. They have the whole lineup of Dobyns crankbait rods to choose from. $249.99 for the rod you mentioned comes to $199.99. Great dealrangerjoe wrote:Well I think I will go with the Dobyn 804CB Glass. The rod is outside my budget, but if I can get 15% - 20% on a Memorial day sale it won't be too bad. I really liked the review on the Phenix, but in the end I want an all glass rod.
Thanks for all the input.

Re: Crankbait rod for 1/4 oz baits
I've been hunting the perfect small(1/4-3/8) crank rod for about 7 months.
So far the ones I like best are g loomis cbr 843 & shimano crucial crankbait ML.
I found the dobyns 704cb/804cb too heavy/stiff for anything less than 3/8. YMMV.
I've been keen on 6'6 rods so for me- g loomis 783cbr for 1/4-3/8 and 785 for over 3/8-1/2 shallow-mid divers.
IMO if dobyns made a 703cb that would be the perfect candidate for baby cranks.
I did like the lucky craft rod mentioned earlier by previous poster but I was shopping for a 6'6.
I ordered the Pheonix glass rod but it's E-glass(not S-glass like dobyns) and a complete noodle, promptly returned it.

Spooky.you may have found the Dobyns 704cb too stiff for 1/4oz cranks but I can assure you the 704cb"glass" is not.BTW I sold my 704cb glass in favor of the Duckett 6'8" crankbait rod.Can throw down to 1/8oz with this rod if you wish. And around $150.spookybaits wrote:I've been hunting the perfect small(1/4-3/8) crank rod for about 7 months.

Seems like a lot of people like the X10, I think that will be my Memorial Day purchase. How is it for deeper running cranks or even spinnerbaits?
