what does "a rod with some tip" mean?

Post by 21farms » Mon Apr 16, 2012 8:23 am

for as long as i've been fishing, there's one thing i've never understood as far as terminology. when i watch his vidoes, KVD says stuff like, "you'll want a rod with some tip to it" or "choose a rod with a lot of tip". i just saw a poster on this board describe a rod as having "just a bit more tip than the jig and worm rod." okay, i'll admit it, i don't know what that means

Q: does "having tip" mean that the tip of the rod is MORE flexible or LESS flexible?

Mmmmmm...red satin goes with just about anything, eh? Also remember, some longer rods, even with the same action and power rating...will give you "more tip". :big grin:

I always thought an Ugly Stick was a perfect example of a rod with more tip...more tip section - more flex.
