Carrot Stix or equivalent?
Re: Carrot Stix or equivalent?
I have a cartot stix mh and haven't had any problems with it.

Shimano Cumara. They retail $200-$240 but you can find them for around $150 if you look on ebay. Another lighweight option would be Falcon Bucoo and Lowrider series.typical2 wrote:I have a Carrot Stix PG 70 M casting rod and so far I like it a lot. I like the light weight sensitivity. I need another rod in a 7' MH but I'm a little hesitant with the breakage potential and concerns about warranty issues. Should I pick up another orange rod or are their better more durable rods with the light weight of these rods. It's a football jig rod.

Oh yeah, can't forget to throw Powell rods in the mix too when talking about lightweight rods.

I would like to see the Falcon or Powell Rods but I don't have any dealers in my area. I'll have to check them out next time i get down state here in Michigan.

If you look on the internet, all or most of the retailers/etailers are liquidating all lines of older Carrot Stix. Example: Cabelas $79.99 for the original LTX version and $149.99 for the Gold version.

Re: Carrot Stix or equivalent?
I was not a fan of the previous generation of the Carrot Stix. I think the issues with them were pretty documented.
However, I do have one of the newer Professsional Grade rods and I like it. I've got a 7'3 MH spinning rod. Mine is assembled pretty well and has a nice fast tip. It is pretty tip heavy, but I put an ounce of lead in the butt and it balances very nicely with a Fuego 3000.
I got mine for right at $100. At that price point, it seems like a nice rod. I'd say it compares favorably to other $100 rods.
