Trying to decide which rod for all purpose pond fishing rod.
Loomis BSR852 GLX
Loomis SHR822 GLX
St Croix Avid 7'med AS70mf
The lure weight range on the St Croix is more appropriate but the Loomis spinning rods are not rated as all around rods.
I use a range of plastic on 1/16 to 1/4 heads & weightless.
I also like to throw1/4-1/2oz traps, 1/4 -1/2oz topwater, & some minnows.
They all fish fine but I was interested in some other thoughts.

the loomis rods you listed may feel a little underpowered with the 1/2oz weights. THe avid may suit your tastes a little better, or go with the mojo 7' M Fast. I fished them both and the mojo is the best bang for your buck, the avid is nice but there is only a slight difference in sensitivity. I no longer have the mojo nor the Avid as i sold them and upgraded to a LTB.
The Loomis BSR 852 GLX can pretty much handle all your plastics work.
I have not used the shaky model and there is one in the for sale forum for a great price.
