The best casting rod?

Post by MasonHuff » Thu Apr 14, 2011 10:50 am

Ok guys, in success with my last post, The best spinning rod, I want in your opinion, the best casting rod. Any manufacture, JDMs to domestics. Any casting rod. :D

If the handles where straight on the megabass diablo, I would love it. I just don't like the way the handle is, but its innovative

The handle is str8 on my Diablo. I wouldn't fish with a slant bridge anymore than I could afford one. ;)

A lot of variable's here but, for me it'd have to be the GLX783 or 843.. Actually prefer the longer of the two, but the 783 is just one of the best APC's ever made period... It's a shame I dont even own a Loomis anymore, and haven't for over 10 years now... :?

Shakespear Ugly Stick. :big grin: :big grin: :big grin:

How many of you owned $100+ rods when you were 12yrs old - 18yrs old? I betcha, the majority of us guys caught more fish with these Ugly Sticks than all of our expensive rods. The truth is soo ironic.

The Evergreen Super Stallion has an amazing range of capabilities. I've literally thrown 3/8 oz spinnerbaits all the way up to 2 oz hard swimbaits with this rod. I can't stand the ACS reel seat however.

The MBR 783 GLX and the MBR 843 GLX are easily among the best all purpose bass fishing rods made without a doubt.

The original Megabass Diablo is also a great stick - slant bridge or the straight handle model. I'm also a huge fan of the Megabass Jabberwock Evoluzion slant bridge as a great multi purpose stick.

The Loomis NRX 893 JWR is definitely in the top 1% of any rod I've ever used in terms of sensitivity. I've been having a very hard time putting it down it's so good.

There is no way I could pick ONE as the "best" however...

I was never enough of a catfish junky to every fish or own an Ugly Stik. Berkley Cherry Wood and Lightning Rods for me were my starter rods.

Oh yeah...no such thing as a best factory made casting rod...at least once you own a custom.
