Has anyone fished these rods?
Which Dobyns would be the better choice for a combination Drop Shot, Tubes, finesse plastics rod for Canadian Shield type lakes (Mich U.P.) where some 4-6 lb bass are encountered fairly often... I use 8# flouro or 12# braid w a flouro leader.
Thanks for your opinion!

Depends how heavy of a tube jig your going to be throwing. IF your only using 1/4 oz at the heaviest I would say SS 692. IF you plan on using 3/8 oz and up like to a 1/2oz use the SS 693. I personally don't like over loading my rods to there max

My jigs, tubes, and T rigs will run from 1/8 to 1/4 oz when I will use this spin rod. Generally 8-10# Flouro line.

The only Savvy spinning rod I own/fish is the 703.
I own/fish 2 & 3 power Champions & Champion Extreme in 2 power. Based on that experience, I'd go with the 2 power rod. The 2 power will be a better rod for dropshot, flickshake & darter head. If hooked weedless, you can fish it with up to 5" senko but a 4" will be better. Lot of plastic to get through. Wacky rigged, a 5" will be no problem. Fishing "finesse" worms, I'd again prefer the 2 power.
For reference, I use the 3 power spinning rods for skipping docks with 5" senko, etc.

Re: SS 692 or 693?
I own both the 692 and 693 (and also a DX701) and I will say this.... For what you want to do, grab the 692. I bought the 693 for lighter texas rigs, skipping and the like and it excels at that. Its a bit of a broomstick for lighter plastics and the like. The 692 is a very versatile stick. That 701 is misleading by the ratings, its much more powerful than one would believe yet has a soft tip for those small plastics. I fish a lot of 1/16 heads and diminutive plastics for pressured stream smallies but that is twice the price of the Savvy series. For an all around rod, by all means go with the 692 and be happy. I have 6 rods in the Savvy line and that one is my favorite. It does everything pretty well from maybe 1/8 to 3/8 oz. Being familiar with the shield lakes, I think its a good choice
