How do you guys like your's for pointer 100. Im thinking of getting one tomorrow for mostly jerkbaits and would it be good for square bills and 5-10 ft diving cranks which i rarely throw.

The 685 CB is a great squarebill rod along with the 705 CB rod. I prefer the longer length for my jerkbaits, and squarebills but thats my own opinon. It will work for the pointer 100's and will work for cranks that dive 5-10 feet, some guys like the shorter length to work the jerkbaits better.

I agree it's a great Jerkbait rod. I have to admit I do wish I went with the 705CB.

Your going to love the 705 CB. Amazing square bill rod. Alot of backbone to get those heavy hooks set. But still has the tip to work a jerkbait!

Fished both of those rods. I agree with everything said above. After trying the 685CB, I stayed with the 705CB.
I didn't feel I was loosing any accuracy with the 7' length. I was also getting slightly longer casts. Since I'm only 5'7", I was still ripping baits sideways as opposed to having the rod vertical. For some very tight situations, I would actually pitch the bait (using the 705CB) as opposed to casting.

I too was HARD SET on getting a 685CB strickly for throwing squarebills in shallow cover. ALMOST bite on one, but decided to try out my 705CB graphite first.
I do like throwing spinnerbaits in shallow cover with a little shorter rod (Dobyns 683C) and really like it so far, and would probably be fine with a 685CB for squarebills, but we'll see.
I still may end up with a 685CB. Especially, that I have a $200 THUT gift card still sitting around
