Gloomis for sure! The NRX rod pushes it head and shoulders above anyone. St. Croix would be a distant second!

Loomis NRX
Croix SCV
THe best there is no comparison out there, they all can imitate never duplicate.

I would have to Vote FORWARD for Phenix when the T46 blanks are finally made into factory rods. These are insane in weight and sensitivity. So far, the durability is also good. I boatfliped a 6.5 lber last week with the 7'1" heavy.

Who makes Loomis blanks nowadays as Gary Loomis is building for someone else?
Re: Which rod manufacturer uses the BEST blanks?
Scary to think that some consider the original Evergreen made blanks even better than the OEM ones now!

I think you need to define "best". To me that means best that I can build a rod with and that is a Croix SCV. They have the nano 3M resin same as Loomis but I can actually buy one! And best does not allways mean top of the line either. The good part is there are more good blanks out there now than I can even get my hands on, but I AM trying one blank at a time!

Crazy people speak so highly of the scv blanks! Not impressed with my custom 7' med fast....
Anyways to the question I am going with phenix! North fork makes some sweet one also but I will save my $150-200 going with the phenix.

Wonder how many of these manufacturers of rods actually build their own blanks? I've always thought it was like TV's or washers...lotta brand names selling them but only a few actually manufacture them....

What about Falconbladerunner wrote:Don't yell at me for leaving someone out... these were the top 7 brands from the "Which is your favorite rod company?" poll on here. So you guys picked them - now I'm picking them apart. I'm now dissecting what it is about these specific brands that you love...

The ART and IPC technology incooporated in the St Croix's makes them both light but strong...A fello St Croix pro who I know and trust has fished these rods for a number of years and is a awesome flipping and pitching fisherman who has flipped many many giants into the boat....words he told me " I have never broke a St Croix rod...ever"
Strong, Light, Sensitive, and god forbid I need to, there warranty is second to none.
St Croix get's my vote. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUyISoZQdjk

can't go wrong with the SCV or Loomis. Even the older IMX are excellent rods, the newer NRX are outstanding! Just got a Cumulus that's sweet too and right alongside the Loomis. my 2 cents
