NRX 803 vs NRX 802
What do you use your nrx/bcr 803 for vs nrx/bcr 802 for. I had an nrx 803 with a core 51 on it. Was fishing 1/8 oz bullet weight on it with a baby brush hog on it. The core was finicky with this light of weight on the 803, would I be better off going down to the 802 for fishing this light of wieght? Any other rod suggestions for 1/8 oz with baby brush hog are welcome.
Thanks for the epiphany captain obvious
Re: NRX 803 vs NRX 802
I have a 1/8oz head with zoom trick worm on my NRX803 and can cast it as well as my BCR 802GLX with same reel/line. In fact, I am thinking of getting rid of the 802 GLX just because I can make similar presentations with the NRX803 yet have more power.
The reel I'm using is a Chronarch MG50 with upgraded bearings and 10# FC line.
If I was going out to buy a rod for 1/8oz T-rigs and 10# line, I'd buy the NRX802 without any hesitation. I frequently find myself though fishing 12, 14 and 16# line with that same weight lure around cover and grass at which time I like the power of the 803.
If I were you, my first step would be to upgrade my bearings to ABEC 7 if you have not already done so. While 1/8oz is under the rating of the NRX803, I feel it is your reel or casting motion more so then the rod based on my experience with the NRX803. In fact, I think the NRX803 to hold and cast feels just like a BCR802. To hook set though, is is very close to the BCR 803 GLX.
