Which is your favorite rod company?

Post by Cal »

There is no hotter topic on the TT Forums than discussion topics concerning rods. Let's find out which manufacturer is tops amongst our forum members. I think it's silly to limit yourself to one manufacturer and one manufacturer only, but, in that age old adage here on TT, "if you could only have one..." which manufacturer would you choose?

And you are welcome to change your mind at anytime.

I voted Powell. Their combination of quality and performance at price I like, make them a winner for me.

Anyone venture to guess which company will end up the most popular after a few hundred votes ahve been cast?
:-k I'd guess G.Loomis, but I expect Dobyn's, St. Croix, and Powell to have a good following too.

I select Dobyns, because I think they make a quality product, have all the models to cover my needs, and have excellent customer service and warranty policy, though I would hate to give up my MBR843GLX and 7'1" Compile-X. As Cal succinctly put it, limiting oneself to one manufacturer is silly. If Evergreen and Megabass were more competitively priced, easier to acquire, and had better warranties (kudos to Megabass for improving their warranty), things might be different.

Judging by our forum, I believe that Dobyns will be at the top of this poll.

I voted Dobyns as well because I believe their rods are some of the best. I have rods from other manufacturers that I fish with as well.

Yep, there was no option for "Otterrods custom St. Croix", so I voted for St. Croix. :D

Color me Dobyn's all the way. I think Gary's line-up is proving itself daily....... and he isn't done yet =D> =D> =D>

That said, I used to be a Loomis user, had many of em, and I liked em. Since the Shimano take over I don't think they are nearly the standard they used to be.

If it was not Dobyn's today it would be St. Croix..
