There are a handful of manufacturers that just plain make great rods. Loomis and Dobyns are both in that category, IMO.

While it's not nearly as important for crankbait fishing, I find the 7'+ Dobyns rods to balance a bit better than the Loomis rods. Also not important to performance, I think the Dobyns looks a whole lot better. The Dobyns Champions series feature better guides (the material, not anything about Kigan vs Fuji). But again, that isn't really a big deal either, especially when using mono or fluoro for cranking (although I still think rods the price of Loomis's should come with SiC inserts).

Either way, I don't think you will be disappointed.

7 ft seems to be the sweet spot for me when it comes to cranks.

You could go cheap and get two rods under $250. I use the Daiwa -S and have had good luck with them. I have a 7'mh glass and a 6'6m glass rod that I use for everything except topwater.

I use a Avid 7ft Hvy. mod. action rod. It works well for the applications i use it for.

Loomis CBR843 is the way to go! I love mine. Also have the 783. Super light and sensative and great action.

the steez 7'M flexlite is outta ur price range but it'll take the place of more than 1 cranking stick so in my mind it's worth the money...it will take care of all of ur cranking needs from 1/4oz speedtraps to the norman DD22s...the rod is graphite but when u use it, it'll have that buttery smooth feel of glass

if ur lookin for a light to med cranking stick, the dobyns 704cbglass with satisfy all of ur needs...once agian, it has that buttery smooth feel that will keep the trebles on the fish
