Split Grip Rod in Rod Holders

Post by Bamboozle » Sun Jun 04, 2023 9:50 am

I don't own a split grip rod but I want one... ;)

However I read somewhere that the fit in rod holders isn't ideal and you can chip/damage the little bit of cork on the grip or scratch the blank.

I use Scotty 280's for my spinning & casting reels when fishing from a boat or my float tube. Anyone have any experience with that rod holder and a split grip rod?

Thanks in advance for any insight offered!!

You mean this rod holder? I do not see how the configuration of your grip will have any effect on how effective the holder is or damage to the rod... hold points are all above the grip.

That's the holder and it looks fine to me too.

Thanks!
