Stand Up Backpack
Stand Up Backpack
Anyone have suggestions on a backpack that has some kind of hard shell/EVA bottom that stands upright?
Doesn't have to be a "fishing" backpack, and definitely not one of those with a gaping cavity at the bottom for 20 plano boxes.
I just need something that stands up so I can mount a rod holder to it, fishing sandy beaches with a baitcaster I need somewhere to stow the rod while unhooking fish etc.

Re: Stand Up Backpack
Klein Tools makes a backpack with a rigid plastic base. I have one for my tools at work and it works well.
Try not to let your mind wander. It is much too small to be outside unsupervised.

The tool backpacks look like they can work - I might get one and cut out all the pockets to reduce weight.hoohoorjoo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 19, 2022 7:33 pmKlein Tools makes a backpack with a rigid plastic base. I have one for my tools at work and it works well.
Thanks!

My 15 yo Osprey backpack is still going strong, so I like this rec - have you used the packs with integrated kickstand? Does it stand up in uneven surfaces like slightly sloping sand/grass etc?BRONZEBACK32 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 22, 2022 12:55 pmOsprey has one that does.

I haven't tried it on any hills, my guess would be it needed to be placed on a semi flat surface.reason162 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 23, 2022 6:08 pmMy 15 yo Osprey backpack is still going strong, so I like this rec - have you used the packs with integrated kickstand? I use a Yeti carryall bag.

Find the equivalent to the Albakore. Maybe there are a few new SKB available at some retailers.

I have an older model Shimano Blackmoon top load backpack that I use for the beach that stands upright. The newer models looks like it might be a little bigger though (holds an extra plano box). I also use this aluminum expandable rod holder/spike I found on amazon to keep my rod/reel from falling on to the sand https://www.amazon.com/MOIAK-Fishing-St ... 31&sr=8-64
