How do you keep your tackle bag from getting soaked?

I have good foul weather gear, so I don’t mind fishing in the rain. However, I don’t like for my tackle bag to get soaked. I have to worry about rusted hooks. I have a Cabela’s Advanced Angler Large tackle Bag. I know it can put a garbage bag over it, but I had rather have a real solution. I could buy waterproof boxes, but that would be expensive and they might not fit. I had a Bass Pro bag before that had a built in rain cover. Any ideas?

Any back-packing or outdoor store sell backpack covers that work great
Most Plano boxes also fit in 2 gallon freezer bags.
Both will really help

I keep most of my stuff in an old blind bag I bought 25 years ago when I was still duck hunting. Most things related to waterfowling need to be reasonably waterproof, or your steel shot rusts into a lump. It's the old version of the Drake bag...

I keep some stuff in an old Costco soft cooler bag I got from my girlfriend - it looks like an LLBean canvas bag. The zipper doesn't leak very much if you keep the bag on its side. :) The inside is lined/waterproof to keep your ice from melting and leaking in your car.

If I'm a non-boater and rain is in the forcast, I carry a large plastic trash bag and will stick the tackle bag inside the plastic bag. Sorry, I just saw that you had mentioned a trash bag. I have no other real solution.

Over my 63 years of life I've become smart enough to go home before it rains...
