Project T
Project T
I see Daiwa have released another irritating film on you tube. I'm interested to see what's coming out in the future, but this series of annoying tease films really reduces my desire to find out anything! Put up or shut up Daiwa!
Re: Project T
I agree, But what is the reel shown 12 seconds out in the video????
Is it a round t wing reel?

Re: Project T
Could be a TW in a Zillion/SV103 frame? Looks to be a tad bigger though. Looks like it has the bumpers that Zillions are known for plus the holes up top. Who knows.Finnz922 wrote:looks like the zillion hd/1516 series. blah
I'm just waiting for an Alphas SV TW. Doubt they will make a Pixy given the Steez SV TW is small, light and magnesium. The Alphas SV TW would place within the lineup as would an SV103/OG zillion SV TW. I doubt Daiwa would go all out with the TSW though.

Re: Project T
I will not buy a twing reel and thats just how it is. They will market anything that the consumers want to buy. Enough people want a product and there at the next icast there it is...Uh nope
Re: Project T
Like I been saying just have a Zillion L/wind or cone style tapered level wind and have it center the worm gear everytime you cast when clutch is pressed then that be money. No need for T wing. Y'all listening big D.
Re: Project T
ABU made some reels with levelwinds that centred or split when the clutch was depressed, probably in the 80s. Much more complicated engineering, so more prone to failure. The Twing system achieves the same thing with much more mechanical simplicity, now it rotates downwards rather than the reel hood popping up (really dumb initial approach to the idea). Other than making the front of the reel marginally wider, I can't see what the objection to the Twing could be. I don't really think it makes much difference practically a lot of the time, but if you use thick springy fluorocarbon I'm pretty convinced that it makes a noticeable difference.

Just another reel built on the original TWing frame that almost no one likes.rockchalk06 wrote:papabassin wrote:The reel @ 1:32 looks like fun

Re: Project T
Agreed. The TWing does little to nothing for me. The maybe 5% increase in casting distance when it is perfectly centered doesn't outweigh its many small disadvantages imo.Mang wrote:Like I been saying just have a Zillion L/wind or cone style tapered level wind and have it center the worm gear everytime you cast when clutch is pressed then that be money. I would rather have a smartly engineered extra wide zillion level wind that auto centers every cast. That would be impressive. Speed up the left right travel near the edges and have it go a bit further past the edges of the spool by cutting out the inside of the frame a touch more. The auto centering could probably be accomplished with springs somehow. If not, I could live with it just being like every other reel.
Eventually they will make smaller, sleeker Z1016SV right? Right?
