NRX 893 and Met MGL, 12# FC

If I have to go less then this I resort to BFS casting combo or god forbid a spinning rig;;; or I just call it a fun day and go home and sit in the boat with a beer :big grin:

The NRX 852c is pretty good with those duties as well.

The SV spool is money for the weightless/lightweight T rigs. I like how it pitches smooth, far and effortless. You can then wind up and bomb the lure without touching the brakes at all.
I just realized the title had LIGHT in all caps. The K2 weighs 2.7oz and super balanced.

Wow....I am amazed that you can get the rig to work for you, especially wtih 15-lb line and a MH rod.
I've used down to 1/8 with my 893 no problem with Aldebaran.
How does it work for pitching?
I have done the same, pitching is no problem. I pitch more than cast. The reel setup is just as important as the rod.
The challenge is getting the spool rotating with lite lures.
How do you set up your reel?
Do you use any aftermarket things such as shallow spools?
Is your reel super tuned?
No super tuning involved, and just the factory spool. It helps to have a extra fast tip rod and a well trained thumb. I can pitch it far enough that I should be casting it at times.

When I had a 15 Aldebaran for a short time, I found it was a great pitching reel when all the brake blocks were off. I did not like popping the side plate off and putting a brake block to on for me just to cast the reel.

It casted good as well, I just prefer to have a Daiwa for plastics/pitching because I can go from pitching to casting without touching the brakes.

Agree on the preference for Daiwa. What Daiwa model are you using?

I have a lot of reels with the SV spool. I also use a Zillion TWS for punching and other heavy stuff. The SV spools are nice for pitching as well as the MagForce reels as well.
