You will be happy with the Texas Tackle split ring pliers. Best split ring pliers I've used. I have the orange handled ones. Very pleased when I need to change hooks on baits, these make quick work of this job.

The fact that the wedge is down from the tip of the opposite jaw just makes everything quicker and easier.

I have been changing quite a few split rings and hooks lately, and thought I would update my input on my best split ring pliers:
1: Texas Tackle (use the orange most but also love the bigger blue and green)
2: Halco
3: Stonfo
4: Everything else far behind
Texas Tackle, Halco, and Stonfo all have the wedge(s) down from the opposite tip as Randingo noted. I am looking for other cheaper split ring pliers with a similar design to fill my various day packs...

best ones I use, I stole from my mother..They were for making jewelry...not sure where she got therm from.
