Heavy duty/Big Alabama rig
Heavy duty/Big Alabama rig
Looking for a model that is designed for big baits or in your opinion has the beffiest components. I'm going to try targeting musky with them. I could swap out the snap swivels to musky grade easily. I'm trying to avoid making my own. Thanks for the suggestions

I would not use snap swivels. Attach lures with "musky grade" split rings. Make sure bottom 2 swimbaits are heavier than the rest.

For years umbrella rigs were beefy wire and large jigs used for stripers, so I'd be looking into a striper umbrella rig, not the smaller, lighter "Bama rigs.

Hog Farmer makes the toughest, best built umbrella rigs I've used. I've caught quite a few good sized striped bass on them, and a few decent musky. I haven't had them break one yet.

I make the heaviest duty I have seen or used. At least 0.051 stainless. All solid brass beads, Wolverine rings, VMC high carbon 5/0 hooks , Lazer Sharp swivels, etc.

You're welcome! If my goal was to tackle big toothy critters, I'd be happy to have one of those tied on for sure!Mike and Pike wrote:Thank you sir. Means a lot coming from you.
