Prescription Sunglasses

Hey guys I'm looking at buying some rx sunglasses. I'm lucky enough to have develop an eye condition that causes my eyes to reject contacts any time I try to wear them. So no more regular sunglasses for me..Can somebody recommend some good sites to order from?

I would head into your local optometrist and try on frames. After you find something comfortable they can make you lenses just the way you want them. (Tint color, polarized, anti scratch/fog etc). Even if you just find what fits you can always order online to get a better price once you know what you want. Oakley makes prescription lenses if you find a frame you like.

I, too, can't wear contacts these days, and it's put a lot of excellent sunglasses on the shelf, so I feel your pain. Go to an optometrist who handles multiple lines of sunglasses and tell them you want Rx polarized lenses. Most--but not all--frames they carry will be available in Rx. The major advantage of this is you have access to the curved and wraparound styles most of us like for fishing, and the lenses will be made by the company whose glasses you like. Maui Jim, Oakley, Costa, and many others make prescription lenses. And just realize you're going to drop some major coin.

I used LensCrafters for my Oakley prescription polarized lenses. They do a great job and use official Oakley lenses. Definitely not cheap, but worth it every time I go sight fishing. Not all brands use their own polarized lenses when done in prescription, so be sure to ask if good polarization is important to you.

If you all dont mind me asking, what are you paying for yours? Around $450 minimum?

I wear wiley X prescription that I get through my optometrist. Check your insurance if you have any, my insurance covers most of the cost if I dont get normal glasses in the same year. I think I walked out of the optometrist with prescription wileys for under $200 AND the doctor got me down to 20/15. I specifically asked to try and go beyond 20/20 as I would be using the glasses for sight fishing.

I ended up getting a really good deal on my prescription sunglasses today. Framesdirect.com is running a promo where you can get 50% off certain brands. I got some Wiley X P17s with Emerald green lenses that have ar, anti glare, anti scratch and anti fog. Ended up being a little over $200. Can't beat that

I have prescription Maui Jim's. A good friend manages an eyeglass shop, so he took good care of me. The regular price is not for the faint of heart...around $650.

I run prescription sunglasses too. I have two sets of Oakley jawbone/racing jackets... polarized mirrored and yellows for different conditions. Not cheap but definitely worth it on the water.

I'm on my second pair. Have your optometrist set you up. You can only get so much wrap around from a prescription lens. They beat the snot out of wearing Cacoons or Fitovers. Be ready to drop at least 4 bills or more.

Definitely optometrist work. Oakley could not make my lenses. They had to go to a specialist lens shop.

I did just that maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Don't take them out anymore since a buddy hamfisted some 100spf in my face while wearing this prized set of lady catchers. But it's cool... He managed to get back in after about 20 seconds so no biggie. My apology if I posted this image before, been meaning to and simply don't recall. Goooood stuff here...
