I used to be a big tube fisherman when i lived on east lake ontario. I have tried alot of different methods one of which being the bps internal weights similar to the setup you posted. I had terrible line twist issues with it. Is that not your experience?

Can't say that I have. One reason may be that my waters are not very deep so there is not a lot of free fall time for the bait to twist. I had much worse line twist when using traditional exposed hook tube jigs where the eye exits the side of the head instead of the top, which intentionally spirals the tube on the free fall. I stopped using them after having too many larger fish coming unbuttoned from them. I don't know exactly why, but this rig sticks them solid 9 out of 10 ties for me.

When nothing is biting, slip bobber and live bait. LOL. Or go home.

Looking for a bite. First lures I usually throw is anything plastic, like swimbait, grub, worm, or tube.

I am a hard bait guy first, though. More fun that way.

sort of a lie since i havent targetted largemouth in like 2 years so its more like 1.5" tube on a 1/32oz jighead for freshwater

It's funny--I look at this topic and think about how much of my effort in fishing over the years has been to not have a go to. I used to fish fast moving horizontal presentations all the time because it made me feel like I was doing something by covering water. If I went to a pond or narrowed myself down to a really small piece of water, I would end up soaking some kind of soft plastic. There are still things that I do that feel like second nature to me, but over the years I've tried to get to a place where I could feel totally comfortable with almost any tool in my box. These days, I'd have to know more about the situation before I could tell you what my go to would be. About the only mainstream technique I'm not confident in is throwing big swimbaits and a-rigs, though I've had some success with both of them (they just don't feel like "natural" choices to me). I guess if you told me I have to catch a bass in water I knew nothing about, I'd probably bring a dropshot, but I often go fishing without ever rigging one up.
