Who's rods and reels do you like

Cabelas reels are often rebadged Daiwa and Okuma reels. Their rods are some of the best you can get dollar for dollar, especially when they go on sale. Painless return/exchange policy as well.

Nothing wrong with Bass pro, but Cabelas is my favorite.

Seems BPS reels (higher end ones) are made by Pure Fishing (ABU and Pflueger) while Cabelas are mostly debadged Daiwa and Okuma. For reels I would pick Cabelas since they are usually just debadged vs one offs like BPS ( thinking about parts and aftermarket). For rods I prefer Gander's higher end since they are made by 13 Fishing.

I chose BPS simply because their crankbait rods are great rods regardless of price

Prefer the BPS rods. Never used either companies reels.

I've used some cheaper BPS rods and they work fine for their purpose.

Never used reels from either store.

One of my first casting reels was a gold carbonlight, still have it to this day. Besides the somewhat ugly color, it has performed really well for me.

I guess BPS just because of convenience to me with a bricks and mortar store. Otherwise I stick with Shimano reels and g loomis rods.

I own 3 of BPS's better rods and I like them, they're good rods. Can't say about the reels, I've used Shimano reels for years.

Who makes Gander Mountain's rods? I just bought one of their tournament medium light spinning rods for my dad, and it honestly feels like a really nice rod for the money. Haven't fished with it since it was his present, but it's light and should be sensitive. The elite series felt even better just handling them in the store.

Biggest draw to house brand rods and reels seem to be price and the no hassle warranty. I have a few BPS rods and few Cabelas rods and I would say they are on par with each other. Had some reels from BPS and have never never owned a Cabelas reel that I can remember. All of this house brand stuff pretty much sits idle or gets used by guests that go fishing with me.

Getting parts for Bass Pro reels is rather easy. They have a number you can call and the parts are usually cheap and ship cheaply and quickly. Ive used their service to fix several of my customers reel and have enjoyed the experience every time. And yes the reels are pretty much identical to Abu's. AS for Cabela's reels being mostly rebranded Daiwa's and Okuma's I think that is not all true. I know some are and some aren't. And the one's that are not you can not get parts for.
